Right to Read Week: East Woods and Hudson Middle School

One World, Many Stories

Right to Read is going virtual this year! In keeping with our annual tradition, PTO is bringing the love of books, reading, writing and charity to our school community by bringing some of our favorite authors to our schools. Students will get the honor to meet authors: Margaret Peterson Haddix, Sharon Draper, Kate Messner, and Natalie Lloyd. These authors will Zoom with a small group of students. This virtual session will be recorded and shared with the entire school. Interested in meeting one of these authors via Zoom? Tell your Media Specialist today!

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to read along with your favorite author. You can pre-order books at the PTO bookstore.  Each pre-ordered book will include a bookplate signed by the author and will be delivered to the school. The deadline to order books has been extended to Sunday, Feb. 28 at 5 p.m.

An additional positive this year is that we are sharing our virtual Right to Read Week with two schools in the North Hills area of Akron.  Due to COVID-19, the students in the Akron Public Schools have been virtual all year – a devastating fact.  With your support, we hope to donate books to their students. A large percentage of these students are refugees and are currently learning English as a second language. The goal is to provide each student with a book from one of our featured authors. How can you help? When ordering you will have the opportunity to donate a book or make a general contribution to the schools
